The Blender Institute has stopped the Gooseberry campaign now that it’s clear that the updated target of 5,000 supporters cannot be met. Ton presents a slimmed down version of the project which will still lead to substantial improvements of Blender. Of course, each supporter gets the choice to keep his pledge in place or to withdraw it now.

Disney’s Frozen – “Let It Go” Sing-Along Version – YouTube.
For once, I’m not talking about the weather. I’m talking about the movie with Kirsten Bell and Idina Menzel. The movie had a lot of hype in America and you know something’s big when you get this released by the studio themselves. It’s the song “Let It Go”, sung by Elsa (Idina Menzel), with lines swapped out for other languages — everything from English, German, Swedish, to the lesser known languages — Catalan, Castillo and even the Eastern languages got a look in — Korean, Japanese, Cantonese Chinese and Mandarin Chinese.
I watched the film yesterday and, although it was sterotypical Disney — good guy, bad guy, love triumphs over everything, etc, etc. There were a few things in there that were not typical Disney. Prejudice over Elsa’s powers, exploitation of Anna’s love for Hanz, my jaw dropped when I saw the sequence for Let It Go, and how Elsa formed the Ice Palace.
The songs were really catchy — unlike some musical films, where the songs are sung too quick, I could hear what the actors and actresses were saying, and I have to say, I suffered last night with Frozen earworms, and “Let It Go” ringing in my head all night.
What I do like about watching professional CG-made films like this, is that they do give you inspirations for your own work.
12 Movie Deaths That Shattered Your Childhood.
I’m not usually one for drama movies or tearjerkers, but, being of South-East Asia heritage myself, I really had to watch this one. A really touching story with cruel twists and may coincidences. Whether some of them were “enhanced” for the Hollywood portrayal of the story or not, I don’t know, but this is one story I enjoyed and one I would recommend you watch, but I do have to say, if you’re easily traumatised, or don’t like the look of wounds, then probably skip this one – it doesn’t hold back.
I watched Quartet last night over Google Movies and was moderately pleased with it. It’s not often you get a classical music-themed movie with lots of professional singers and players.
The movie felt a little jumpy and slightly disjointed for my liking. To be fair all the actors and actresses seemed to be enjoying themselves and there were plenty of funny moments. The whole movie centered on the “Quartet” who previously performed Rigoletto together and have been reunited in time for a Charity Gala to save their retirement home from closing.
