Dungeon Defenders

#

Although Dungeon Defenders can still be installed off Play, it is not possible to install the additional data files needed to run it, so you can’t play it any longer. There was, for a while at least, a beta of the next DD game, but I didn’t catch it in time.

Dungeon Hunter 4

#

Making progress now in the game. Finally hit my first PvP area. Haven’t tried it yet, though. In addition, I’ve finally decided to try the Blood Arena area. I can get a few monsters in, but die pretty quickly. Some of the monsters there are quite tough. Others, fall quite easily. The more often and better I fight in the arena, the better my score, and the better the prizes I collect at the end of the week.

Dungeon Hunter 4

Found a new Android Game to entertain myself now. Dungeon Hunter 4.

Screenshot_2013-11-16-15-37-11

It’s a Dungeon Crawler and has some nice graphics. A bit hungry on the CPU so has a tendency to jump on older hardware, but has a decent storyline (so far), and there’s VOICES, and as an additional bonus, I’m not hearing many American accents. I picked a Warmage as my character as I have thing for mages, and even though the game is freemium, I haven’t had the need to really spend much money on it, and there’s not many features that demand you to buy in-app purchases to continue. The only one that does is the Wheel of Fate which is a gambling game, anyway. Plus you can play the lowest rung (Bronze level) for free once a day.

I’m L13 at the moment, enjoying it, even if I do die on a couple of higher-level dungeons.

Oh, also, shoutout to anyone who knows the significance of my character’s name. ;-)

Airdrop Mode

#

New update to the app. Airdrop Mode. You select your target and whether you want to go there, or there and back, and you get a dynamic mission created for it. Might give it a go as part of my long run this weekend.

Zombies, Run! | Free Halloween missions coming soon to Zombies, Run!

#

We wanted to do something a little bit special to celebrate Halloween this year, so we’ve created 3 free Halloween missions for Zombies, Run!

Because Zombies, Run! already contains a lot of zombies and other scary things, we had to think outside the box in order to come up with these new Halloween missions. As a result, they’re super daft and very fun.

You’ll notice that these missions are separate from the canon and, as a result, can be played by anyone regardless of where you are in the story. Think of them as the Treehouse of Horror of Zombies, Run! The… Sports Bra of Terror? Don’t worry, we’ll think up something catchier than that…

There are 3 Halloween missions in total and we will be releasing them, one a day, in the run-up Halloweek (see what we did there?). We’ll have more spooky info on these as we approach that ominous day, so keep scarily checking the blog. With fear.

The Sims FreePlay

#

I’ve just started play The Sims FreePlay on my Android tablet. It’s a Freemium game (i.e. it’s free, but you have option in-game purchases) and I have to think that the people at EA seem to have some dark humour. Here’s an example. I planted some tomatoes, which have a high XP, but only if they grow. And that’s a big IF. Tomatoes, like some of the other items in the game have a chance to do something else. With some, it’s burning, with others, its spawning a monster. Tomatoes spawns a “Sim-eating Monster” and the only option is to “Negotiate” with it. Which then turns into a fight, and within the fight, you get your sim in a position which looks like s/he is… well, almost doing something a little out of the ordinary…

Dungeon Defenders

#

I re-setup my ASUS Transformer TF101 with AOKP and decided to reinstall the apps from Google Play. Fortunately, it keeps track of everything you installed, so all I had to do was scroll down and start clicking install on everything I wanted back. One of the ones I had completely forgotten about, was Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave. It’s not visible in the market anymore, but you can still download it.

Since it’s been disabled, the in-game purchases no longer work, but then again, you don’t necessarily need it to play the game.

image

The game is still a good, fun, tower-defence 3D game. And I found that there’s a beta of Dungeon Defenders 2 available, but you have to request a beta invite. I won’t be doing that because I’m only playing DD casually, and irratically.

Zombies, Run! 2 -- Supply Missions Are Back!

#

The latest update for the ZR2 app now re-introduces the Supply Missions from Season 1. These missions are not storyline related and do not end. They go on for as long as you want. When you end the mission, the final audio clip plays. I haven’t checked since the update, but as these are optional, I don’t believe they will give you Materials for your base. Also, in the original ZR app, you could only do supply missions after playing certain missions. For example, you could only play the Fuel Run Supply Mission after the mission where you are introduced to Ed and Molly. Such a restriction is no longer the case.

Zombies, Run! Runners List

Here’s a list of all known runners and their current designations that I’ve picked up from the game. I haven’t yet checked the audio from the 5K app, so there could be some more updates.

Zombies, Run! | Get your voice on Radio Cabel

#

Want to be a part of Radio Cabel? If you’ve been with us for a while, you may remember us asking the Zombies, Run! community to submit clips for use in Radio Abel way back in Season One. It was such a success, that we’ve decided to do it again!

We’re looking for more “Stories from the road” and “Survival tips”, as well as call-ins from citizens of both Abel Township and New Canton. How do you feel about living in a zombie apocalypse? How does life in Abel differ from life pre-Z-day? What do you really think of that New Canton lot?

Make sure your submissions are no more than a minute long (60 seconds) and after submissions close, we’ll pick the best ones and get them into the game.

You can submit your own radio clips starting today. We’ll stop accepting submissions September 23. Which gives you just over a month to get something over to us. Our actors will record accompanying lines when we can schedule them in, but recording sessions and actor availability mean it may be a while before they are added to the game.

Instead of calling in to a special phone number, we’re going digital with the submission process this time around, so we can ensure a higher quality.

You can email us with your entries in .wav or .mp3 format to support@zombiesrungame.com with the subject “Radio Cabel" (alternatively, please include a link to a Dropbox file if it’s too big to attach). This means that anyone in the world can submit something for Radio New Tomorrow. Abel Township and New Canton are multicultural, equal opportunity survivor camps, after all.

Zombies, Run! | Your cool bases

#

Hey, check it out. I got mentioned :)

Next we have Blenderfox’s… unique vision of Abel Township. One that features seven fully upgraded training areas. Presumably so that Runners have no excuse not to keep active between missions. Though, at least they get to go to sleep in actual houses of an evening…
Well, considering I focused on defense first and foremost before developing the rest, Training Areas were one of the few buildings which pushed up the Defense rating of the base. Others, such as the Comms shack didn't push the defense up as much because it also increased Morale.

Now, with Defense and Morale at 100%, I can start working on using the other buildings.

The guys at Six to Start were right though. My base is definitely “unique”. It’s the only one with more than one Training Area. And the only one to have all of them fully upgraded (although they don’t all have the full addons)

Zombies, Run! | Your cool bases.

The article didn’t have a good picture of the base, so here’s a better shot (clickable to go full-screen):

Zombies, Run! Audio Extraction Script

#

Here’s a snippet to extract all the ZR zips. Copy all the zips onto your desktop and run this in a console window

for a in .zip do unzip -o $a -d <a class="zem_slink" title="Basename" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basename" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">basename</a> $a .zip rm $a rm basename $a .zip/.json done

Now, each ZR zip contains the audio (as mp3s), plus a json file detailing what item ranges can be picked up during each block and with what probability. We don’t need this for what we are doing.

There’s also no telling whether or not Six to Start will start including other files within their zips, so rather than extract just the mp3s, I extract everything, then take out what I know I don’t need.

Zombies, Run! Building Requirements &amp; Achievements

#

I’ve started work on two FAQs which list the building requirements and achievements that can be unlocked in the game. The links are:

http://goo.gl/WdZsEV (Achievements)

http://goo.gl/VhwuCa (Building Requirements)

The information isn’t quite complete as I haven’t built all the buildings, or unlocked all the achievements. But it’s a start. I’ve made a guess on some of the requirements for some of the achievements, but they’re not confirmed. If you’ve unlocked any of the ones I’m missing, let me know, so I can fill the gaps.

Zombies, Run! | Zombies, Run! Season Pass Summer Sale!

#
We’re celebrating the sunny British weather (as short-lived as it no doubt will be) with a Zombies, Run! Season Pass Summer Sale! All three Season Passes are available for half-price until Monday, July 15. Yes, even if the weather takes another turn for the rainy.

If you’re new to the game, this is the perfect opportunity to gain access to 30 already-released missions, plus another 30+ which we’ll be releasing on a weekly basis starting from Wednesday, July 30.

Season Pass: Now $1.99 (usually $3.99): Includes 40+ Season 2 Story Missions

Season Pass Plus: Now $3.99 (usually $7.99): Includes 60+ S2 Story Missions and Sidequests

Sidequest Pass: Now $2.99 (usually $5.99): Includes 20+ S2 Sidequests

So far, Season 2 has been packed full of great missions. From the profoundly epic, to the intimately daft. We’ve even had Margaret Atwood make a special guest appearance. As you need more incentive, completing certain missions will unlock new buildings and amenities for your Township. This will continue as we enter the second half of Season 2 in late July.

ZR Building Add-ons

#

Zombies, Run! now allows you to put add-ons onto your buildings to further increase your stats (although I’ve yet to see my stats increase from said add-ons). If your app crashes and locks you out of your base screen, there’s an update just released to the Android app – update it and try again.

Zombies, Run! - Race Missions Run-Through (Android)

#

Here’s a few details about the race missions part of the latest ZR2 update if you haven’t read the blog entry references in this post.

The race missions as the name suggests are different to the normal Season 1 and Season 2 missions in that they are not time-based. They are distance based so you must travel a certain distance to trigger the next audio clip.

Race missions are in an entire section of their own, and fill in gaps between Season 1 and Season 2.

Screenshot_2013-07-03-06-48-02

There are different race lengths - 5K, 10K, 20K (near half marathon distance)

Screenshot_2013-07-03-06-48-15

There are two main types of tracking in this mode -- GPS and Accelerometer. Gyro will also be an option if your device supports (newer devices). Accelerometer is for people running on treadmills.

Screenshot_2013-07-03-06-48-57

If you have GPS enabled, then the app will use that to track your distance. If you don't (e.g. you're on a treadmill), then you will have to tell the app how to guesstimate the distance you have travelled, and it uses pace time for that. For example, for me, a walk is 10 min/km, a light jog is 7 min/km, moderate jog is 6 min/km a light run is 5 min/km and fast run 4:30-5:00 min/km.

Screenshot_2013-07-03-06-49-08  Screenshot_2013-07-03-06-49-21

I haven't tried the race missions yet, but I'll be giving them a go when I've finished all Season 2 missions. I've caught up on the main story missions, and have just started on the side missions.

Order &amp; Chaos

#

Gameloft really need to review their way that they design their maps and the monsters. I just got stuck in a spawn point, being killed by monsters before my load screen disappeared, losing money each time I die, then respawning to the same point, then getting killed again, losing more money, respawning again, then dying again, repeat ad lib.

Order and Chaos

#

I’m playing Order & Chaos on my Android, and I’m planning my build. I’m going to go for a defensive build, which is mainly Permafrost/Frost/Ice-based skills. So after playing with this calculator at OAC, I’ve found that I can max out every skill by the time I hit the cap of L60, except for the two skills which are sleep-spells, and are practically useless - they send the opponent to sleep, and any attacks or skills wake them up again.
