No, it’s not a typo, I’ve picked up a scanlatedmanga I stopped reading many months ago. AKB49 is about a boy who tries to help his best friend get into AKB but does so undercover as a girl. He succeeds in getting her in as a kenkyuusei (understudy) - but also ends up getting accepted as a kenkyuusei herself. Err. himself.
All manner of high jinks occur throughout the manga included his/her popularity increasing because of his honesty and straightforwardness.
I’ve now read up to the latest scanlated chapter (#123) and there are similar aspects to AKB0048 – the tough learning, unsupportive parents, lessons day-in, day-out, looking up to your seniors, waiting for your moment.
One thing that really struck me is the similarity between episode 26 of the AKB0048 anime (Next Stage Ep # 13) and the Gekokujyou Vs &Jewel duel. In the anime, the kenkyuusei had to overcome the hatred of their audience after their apparent desertion of the planet Akibastar (play on the word “Akihabara"). In the manga, the Gekokujyou (the subunit of the AKB kenkyuusei consisting of the three main protagonist characters) agreed to a musical duel against &Jewel on their (&Jewel’s) home theatre, leading to a hugely hostile audience. Both teams had 3 songs, plus a possible encore within which to win over their audience. Within one song, GJ dented &Jewel’s effect, the second got them mostly on their side, the third, they let rip and the &Jewel were forced to admit total defeat. After that, the main protagonist - Minoru (f: Minori) collapsed from over-exhaustion, his secret almost revealed. He was saved by the legendary Maeda Atsuko who would keep his secret. Since GJ only had three songs released at this time, they had no encore song, so they sang &Jewel’s song, and did it perfectly. Even the hardened &Jewel fan couldn’t fault them.
Today, I decided to try reverting my laptop to Debian, having imaged it yesterday to provide a rollback option in case something went wrong.
The installation (via Net Install) took absolutely ages, but was pretty much successful. Then I got reminded why I stopped using Debian originally – the Unity style interface. It really winds me up. Then I was surprised by just how long it took to download updates. I usually get a throughput of between 100kb/s and 400kb/s depending on what and where I’m downloading from. I was getting around 20kb/s downloading from ftp.uk.debian.org and downloading the KDE package, apt-get was estimating 6 HOURS to finish downloading, and that’s not including the installing. I even used the tool netselect-apt to pick the fastest mirrors, and it still didn’t improve. I’m going to try again once I’ve downloaded and burned all the Debian DVD images. Maybe I might be able to select the packages and go straight to KDE without using the Unity-like interface.
On the plus side, I checked the DRM test video via Adobe’s web site and I was able to confirm that it works fine and I was able to view DRM protected material in Debian after downloading the hal package, so whatever happens, I’ll at least be able to use Google Movies now.
I might also take a look at openSuSE and see what that’s like. Hey, have to keep my options open. :-)
A long run today, but completely burned out half way, and it turned into a 30 minute run instead of a 1 hour run. Disappointed but there’s always next week…
And this was mentioned in my previous posts here and here, before they blogged it. :D
Since the launch of Zombies, Run! 2, we at Six to Start have continued to work hard on the game. We’re producing bug fixes, feature updates and more for not only the iOS and Android versions of the game, but ZombieLink too.
To start off, we’ve released ZombieLink Mission pages today. This is a huge update to ZombieLink, which allows you to track which missions you’ve completed and view detailed information for each one. On each mission page you’ll not only see your related run logs and a description of each individual story clip, but you’ll be able to listen back to them, too. And by default, we’re hiding spoilers so you won’t see details from missions you haven’t played.
We’re really pleased to deliver such a regularly requested feature. Be aware, though - you can only hear clips from missions you’ve previously completed.
Visit the Missions pages (you need to be logged in)
We’ve also released an update for the Android version of Zombies, Run! 2 today. This includes a bunch of bug fixes, as well as the highly anticipated re-introduction of Radio Mode. So if you’ve already rushed through all the story missions and sidequests which have been released so far, you can jump straight to Radio Mode on your next run. Next on the list are Race Missions, which we’ll be adding to the Android version of the game as soon as we can.
We’re not going to run out of new stuff to add to either the iOS or Android versions of Zombies, Run! 2 anytime soon. As well as bug fixes and tweaks, we’ve got plans to improve the base builder even further, plus some other secret stuff which we can’t discuss quite yet. We’ll also be adding supply missions and the codex back to the game, so look out for all that in the coming months!
We can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since Zombies, Run! 2 was launched - which means it’s time to release the first Season 2 mission pack. Two new story missions are now available along with a new sidequest!
We’re not going to spoil the story missions, but we thought you’d be excited to know that this new sidequest features legendary Canadian author Margaret Atwood. Yes, it’s really her!
Not only did she come to the Six to Start offices to record her part in the mission, but she also co-wrote it with our lead writer, Naomi Alderman. Look! Here’s a photo of Margaret Atwood with Naomi and our director, Matt Wieteska, in our recording sound booth:
Along with Season 1 and Season 2 missions, there are also the Side Missions (S1-S3 at the moment), but there’s also RACE missions, which appear to be distance targetted instead of time targetted. These race missions range from 5K (approx. 3 miles) to 20K (approx 13 miles - this is also almost a Half Marathon distance.) It doesn’t appear to be available for me yet, but it may be because I haven’t completed my rerun of Season 1 yet (just finished Mission 15 out of 23.)
The distance missions would be perfect for my long runs.
