Another cold, cold day today. We had a Zoom session with family around the world -- Malaysia, Australia and UK, went on for about 90 minutes and then had to finish, as it was getting late on the Australia side of the world.
Missed logging this yesterday as it was Chinese New Year. Really, really, really cold (and even colder when I'm writing this just after an early morning working)
Less snow showers today, but still bitterly cold. Did my walk today and have tried to start using FitBit's food tracker and maybe return to calorie counting. Last time I tried to use it, it was painfully poor on its food database. So far I've scanned a few things today and it's found everything.
Managed to catch a break between snow showers to go for a walk and deliver some cookies to my aunt in preparation for Chinese New Year.
Also tested my FitBit Pay again to make sure it was working (and it was) -- didn't test it on anything major, just a bar of Snickers to make sure if I lost anything, it would just be on an 80p bar of chocolate.
It was snowing all night and all of today. The snow has settled, covering cars and the pavement. This time the council used their brain cells and put salt on the pavement and roads before it hit, making the pavements mostly clear. Still slippery in some places however.
Also finally got my Ionic working again. Had to update my phone and Google Apps, and fix my Magisk before it seemed to want to pair properly.
It's been snowing all day. Not heavy, just light snow, but not enough to settle.
Went out for my walk, and it was bitterly cold. Weather according to the Met Office is 1degC, with a low of -3degC. Was hat and gloves weather definitely.
Another earlyish walk. Did some quick shopping at the co-op store -- had to queue up in front of the store for that, and then it started raining just as I got home.
Temperature okay. No gloves or hat today, didn't even need a hood, but the skies were grey and it was raining earlier, so expecting it start raining again any time now.
Problems with my FitBit Ionic forced me to factory reset, and that even didn't work.
Basically, my Ionic will not connect to my phone after a firmware update. Before the firmware update, I can connect to setup the device, but after the firmware update completes, and the device reboots, it won't connect.
Really cold evening walking out. The snow is still mostly there, parts of it have melted, others have not. There's a distinct lack of grit on most of the pavements, even on the steep part of the hill where I live.
Walk had to be slower than normal, with the occasional slip.
It finally snowed today. And as usual, gritters were not out in time.
The roads turned into slushy, slippery dangerous skidways, but there were no accidents fortunately.
I had to head into Chinatown to pickup my contact lenses from the opticians. While waiting for the bus, two cars got stuck trying to climb the hill (it's a notorious hill that has caused problems in the past during snowy, icy conditions, even the police got stuck the last time it snowed heavily)
Since the cars were now blocking the road going up, I decided to go and take a different route to Chinatown, and went via the Northern Line instead of the Piccadilly Line like I was originally planning.
The pavements were slushy and there was not even any sign of gritting. The station pavements were gritted, but presumably by the station staff, and not the council.
Even while coming home and trying to climb the hill to my house, my shoes were not gripping well, and had to take small steps to make sure I wouldn't fall.
Dangerously incompetent, that's what my local council are.
Early morning shopping today, and while we were forecast for ice, there was none on my car. Temperature varied between 0 and 2 degC, so potentially-icy but no ice.
Did my walk today at the usual time, and was still pretty damn cold, but manageable.
