Sunny and warm. A big contrast to last week’s run. My phone’s GPS fritzed again, so no path tracked in Endomondo or ZR.

Also, broke 250K running with my Nike+ SmartWatch.

You finished in 45th place and were the 34th male out of a field of 84 parkrunners and you came 8th in your age category VM35-39. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. Your PB at Oak Hill parkrun remains 00:26:11. Your best time this year remains 00:26:11.

Linux & Windows Dual Booting Guide

#

I’ve just finished work on a dual-boot setup guide with Linux and Windows 7. It covers setting up Dual Boot with Windows installed first or second, and with Linux installed first and second, and covers Linux distros that default to using LVM, such as Fedora, and those which don’t default to using LVM, such as Debian.

I really need to pick up and freshen up my Java knowledge. The last time I seriously programmed in it, we had no generic types, no lambda expressions, the Collections framework was not actively in use, and the dynamic object type of choice was Vector.

"Homeless" Man Versus Businessman Experiment Proves Judgemental Side of Human Nature [VIDEO]

#

www.youtube.com/watch

In a heartbreaking social experiment, a man dressed as a homeless person falls down in a busy street in Paris, France. Dozens of people pass by him, no one offering a hand. Then, a person dressed in a suit falls in the exact same location, appearing to be sick, and everyone jumps to his aid.

The video claims the “homeless” man was lying on the street for more than five minutes without anyone offering help. Some of the passers-by stop to take a second look, but still do nothing.

On the other hand, the man in a suit doesn’t even need to cry for help before several people hurry to his side.

While the “experiment” can’t be 100% validated, it still shows an interesting, and unpleasant, side of human nature.

The video also highlights an incident from 2008, when a woman collapsed in a waiting room of a New York City hospital, and the staff ignored her for 45 minutes.

At one point in the video, a caption simply asks: “What if it was you?” A chilling thought considering any one of us could one day be on the wrong end of a snap judgement.

Grey, gloomy, and raining. Although, like most British weather, it cleared up soon after starting the run.   No records broken this week, but did get two trophies.

You finished in 41st place and were the 37th male out of a field of 75 parkrunners and you came 9th in your age category VM35-39. Take a look at this week's full set of results on our website. The recent linux kernel update has screwed up my admin accounts on both my Ubuntu-based boxes (Lubuntu & Ubuntu Studio). I’ve spent three hours creating a new user, making them sudo-enabled, then moving my files from my old profile to my new one and tinkering with a few scripts and desktop shortcuts that were still pointing at the old home directory.

Mind you, it’s given me an opportunity to test my LPIC-1 knowledge.

Project Gooseberry - A Letter from Ton & Francesco

#

Received this today:

The Gooseberry crowd-funding campaign is over!

Unfortunately we didn't get enough funding in to make a feature length movie. We do have a lot of support though - over 4500 people donated or subscribed. That's more than enough to start working on the Pilot of the film.

You can read a lot more about it here: http://gooseberry.blender.org/campaign-wrap-up-the-pilot/

In a later email you will be contacted about refunds, cancellations, or activations of pledges. We won't do anything without your explicit approval. Just give us a bit of time to handle it well.

Please read the following carefully, one of the cases applies yours.

1) PayPal and Bank pledges If you paid us already you will be contacted today or tomorrow. You then can decide whether you prefer a refund or if want to support the film project after all.

2) Credit card pledges If you have pledged using a Credit Card, no charges have happened yet. We will contact you early next week with an option to cancel the pledge, or to activate it. We will not charge any card without your permission.

3) Cloud pledges If you promised to join Blender Cloud if we made our target, you will get contacted next week too.

4) Active Cloud Subscriptions If you already joined Blender Cloud, you will get contacted next week with our plans for further development of Blender Cloud, and how the Pilot project will fit in. We hope you stay on board, but a subscription can be cancelled any time.

You can contact us any time with questions. We do our best to handle emails within a day!

Thanks,

The Blender Cloud team: - Ton Roosendaal - Francesco Siddi

Gooseberry Targets not met, new Plan Announced | BlenderNation

#

The Blender Institute has stopped the Gooseberry campaign now that it’s clear that the updated target of 5,000 supporters cannot be met. Ton presents a slimmed down version of the project which will still lead to substantial improvements of Blender. Of course, each supporter gets the choice to keep his pledge in place or to withdraw it now.
