Training in Quarantine - Day 100
#Hit day 100 in quarantine and my FitBit Premium trial is coming up for renewal soon. Still uncertain whether I should renew or not....
Did another FitBit coach workout and walk in again, ~20 degC temperature.
Hit day 100 in quarantine and my FitBit Premium trial is coming up for renewal soon. Still uncertain whether I should renew or not....
Did another FitBit coach workout and walk in again, ~20 degC temperature.
Another 20-ish degC day today, a bit breezy but decided to do the long 1 hr walk.
A cool-ish day today, temp at 20degC so did my walk. The pubs were open again, so saw most of them in use. Even the local Wetherspoons was now open.
Barbers were open too. And pretty much all of them were packed except for the smallest one which only had a few customers. The nearest barber to me was only accepting appointments anyway.
Went for a mini-run today. Did my short walk, but decided to walk-run it today and went past the balloons house. Found out the name of the person was "Victoria"
Mixed weather day, some rain, but now its 20degC. Done my FitBit workout, will be heading out for walk soon.
Got caught in the rain, and had to sprint back -- still that's good exercise.
Someone asked me where the station was -- which was a 30 minute walk unless you get the bus to cut part of the journey time. They chose not to get the bus and continued walking -- in the rain too. And without an umbrella...
Found this in a nearby road:
A bit of digging round, and I found the reason:
A 41-year-old woman has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a 13-year-old girl was knocked down and killed in north London.
Police said the car struck the victim and a 15-year-old girl in Barnet, north London at 9.35pm on Monday.
Scotland Yard confirmed the 15-year-old was uninjured but suffered shock witnessing the collision.
Looking at the location of the flowers, it is near the end of the road, which leads to a miniroundabout. The road, especially at night, is pretty empty and prone to fast drivers (regularly, we hear cars and motorbikes revving late at night), so my suspicion is that someone drove fast down the road, heading towards the miniroundabout, couldn't stop in time and hit the 13-year-old square, and missed the the 15-year old.
Muscles are still hurting from yesterday, so I'll skip my FitBit workout and just walk. There was rain earlier, but it's okay for now....
The temperature was also a lot warmer than the past two or so (very wet) days.
Another cloudy, slightly rainy day. FitBit workout for core and legs and my stomach muscles are screaming at me right now.
Going to take my chances and go for a walk in about 15 mins and see if I get soaked with rain or not.
Cooler today, so did my FitBit workout then went for my walk to cool down.
No walk today -- been raining on-off, so did my first FitBit workout in a while.
Significantly cooler and wetter today. Got caught in the rain while shopping, and in my T-shirt to boot.
Did my walk, but the clouds were not promising sunshine.
Reached 90 days of quarantined training. Another scorcher of a day. A bit of rain in the early hours of this morning.
FitBit shows 27degC, but a breeze made it tolerable.
Another scorcher of a day. 30+ degC showing in the car, 29 degC showing on my FitBit as of 4pm.
Went up to Sainbury's and there was no queue so went in to get some groceries. It was freezing in there. They'd cranked up the aircon high to compensate for the heat outside.
My FitBit is registering 29degC temperature so far, but it feels so, so much hotter than that. Had to use my Asics cap to keep the sun out of my eyes as I walked and my fan has been on almost the entire day.
A scorcher of a day. My car is showing a temperature of 32 degC.
Had to dig out my desk fan again, only a few days after putting it away.
Noticed more shops are now open. The local pharmacy is open for customers, but a one-way system is enforced. My local Costa is open for takeaway only.
Several shops have signs saying they are opening soon.
Forgot to log this yesterday. Spent most of the day in the car with my parents, letting my dad drive and get used to the new car.
I drove back after they stopped off for shopping.
The weather was sunny and hot and in the 20s degC so after I got back, I did go and do my daily walk.
A blustery, mixed-weather day today. Lots of cloud and threatened rain, but didn't during my run.
Been raining most of the day. A brief respite after work let me get some walking done.
Gloomy day, but still hot and muggy with occasional showers.
My hire car finally got picked up, exactly 8 weeks after it was delivered.
Had a moan at Toyota over email -- they confirmed my appointment to get the key reprogrammed, but attempted to sneak a £10 charge in, for "a 40-point surface point clean"
Considering I'm only going back there due to a mistake made by their mechanic and paint damage caused by them, I shouldn't be paying for any of that.
Charges are waived.
Mixed weather today -- rain and sun. Went and got some walking done.
Toyota contacted me saying they have my spare key (the mechanic apparently lost it after programming it and they needed to order a new one - to the tune of £250 cost).
I'll need my take my car back to let them program the key, and hopefully get the dinks in the paintwork fixed.
The next appointment is next Monday, so I'll head up after my daily meeting.
During my walk, the hire car company finally called asking for their car back, they're coming to collect tomorrow, so I topped up the car to make sure they don't fine me for not having enough fuel.
Another warm day, but not too hot. A short walk to get the heart rate up and then back to work.
Weather has turned to sunny today, so a nice longer walk today. Tried a different walk, but turned to be a bit longer distance wise, but not longer time wise.
No walk or workout today. Did the weekly shop this morning as mentioned in my previous post and the temperature has jumped into the twenties today surprisingly.
Another rainy day. Ended up working a bit longer than I expected due to stuff happening that I wanted to fix before the weekend. Overworking seems to be quite a common tendency now, due to the extended working from home situation, even though it's not advisable.
Eventually the rain did stop, so managed to go for my walk around 5pm.
Another miserably rainy day.
Finalised my main Car Insurance. Costing me £450 for the year.
The car deposit is now on my card. I'd better start looking at paying it off soon....
EDIT: It did stop raining for a bit after dinner, so managed to get my walk done at least.
Wet and raining day. No running or walking today.
Picked up my new Toyota Yaris Hybrid today. Had to spend about 30 minutes on hold while waiting for verify myself for the 3-day driveaway insurance.
I now need to finalise my own insurance to cover myself from Saturday.
My dad and I drove up to Toyota in the hire car so I could drive back in the new car.
We spotted some chips in the paintwork which we could not resolve while we were due to it raining (any painting we would do would be ruined by the rain). Toyota gave us some paint and lacquer to do it ourselves when the rain stops.
Drove back in the new car. First time I've properly driven an automatic. I previously drove an automatic for a colleague to help her park, so it wasn't a "proper" drive.
My dad also used to have an automatic (VW Touran), but again, didn't drive that "properly"
The brakes on the Yaris were REALLY sensitive. Just a tap brought the car to near stationary. On my old Skoda I had to push the brake pedal to about half way before it started braking.
Car has bluetooth so managed to pair it with my phone. Haven't tested the music playing over bluetooth yet.
Also, Toyota gave me a plushie as thank you for buying a car
